Turkic Studies deal with the cultures and languages of Turkic peoples in past and present. Besides the Turkic of Turkey and its precursor Osmanli, the languages and cultures of other Turkic peoples also form the subject matter of Turkic Studies. Speakers of Turkic languages are spread over an area that stretches from Southeast Europe, to the Near East, Central Asia, and to Russia up to China and Mongolia. In addition, Turkic Studies deals with Turkic migrants beyond the conventional areas of settlement.
