The goal of Turkic studies is to graduate students who are expected to get MA degrees. One of the basic tasks is to supply a proficiency level of Turkish and a Central Asian Turkic language, preferably Kazakh or Uzbek, Beyond language instruction in the narrow sense, students study the culture of Turkey and Central Asia through original languages. They take a range of subjects such as language contacts, history, anthropology and other domains of human sciences relating to the region as well as fundamental knowledge of Arab, Mongol, Chinese and Islam studies.
