They offer a wide range of courses designed to train you in the languages, histories, cultures and of Russia, Turkey, and Central Asia, Central and Eastern Europe. Through SES students may study up to six years of Russian, three years of Polish and Turkish, and two years of Persian and Romanian. Their curriculum ranges from nineteenth-century Russian literature to the modern Turkish novel, twentieth-century Eastern European cultures to Islamic cultures in Eurasia.
Turkish Language and Culture requires that a student gather
a total of five credits, three of which must be at the 100 level
or above. Two of the five credits must be earned in courses
taught in Turkish. Regional courses dealing with the Balkans,
Eurasia, Islam, and/or the Middle East count toward the minor.
